The 3 Best Places to Eat in Irondequoit, NY (Part 1 of 3)

This will kick off my restaurant review series.

Monte Alban: This place has the best Mexican food in Rochester.
To start off they give complimentary baskets of hot corn tortillas and delicious salsa. The salsa isn't overly spicy and the tortillas are totally addicting, so I'm instantly satisfied. They offer a cheese dip appetizer for under $4 and it is amazing! It is essentially melted cheese and a great compliment to the chips and salsa.

For those of you who like to drink, you will not be disappointed. My better half loves to drink draft beer at restaurants and the gigantic Dos XX makes her the happiest okapi at the table. They also offer giant margaritas which a couple of our friends love, so there is a little something for everyone.

The meals are traditional Mexican fare and the prices are awesome. They have combination meals which are only $8, and they have 26 to choose from. I usually get #11 which is a taco, burrito, and enchilada (all beef). Whether you like beef or chicken, they are spiced perfectly and always juicy. If you're really hungry go for the The Big Man's Combo: for only $11.50 you get five items plus rice and beans! My favorite item on the menu (other than the cheese dip) is the fried chicken burrito. This rare delicacy must be ordered a la carte, but is totally worth it.

The fried ice cream is a fantastic dessert and if it's your birthday, you get one on the house! They also sing, put a sombrero on your head, and whipped cream on your face :) I personally insist that I go here for my birthday every year, because this okapi loves some birthday attention. If you know someone easily embarrassed, bring them here for their birthday and you you'll have a great show.

Misc: The food comes out super fast which I love because an eating okapi is a happy okapi. The staff is very friendly and personable and the atmosphere is casual. They refill your chips as many times as you need and keep an eye out for an emptying beverage. So, I would give this place a full 5 stars. Try it, seriously, go there now.
